So far my great American Adventure is off to a great start. I have begun my travels in the Empire State, New York. I have spent the last few days exploring the city, hiking in upstate new york and shopping of course.
New York City
On my first day in the US, I headed into New York City. I walked Manhattan from top to bottom, walking a total of 29,000 steps, safe to say my legs felt like they were going to fall off by the end of the day. I began my day by visiting Grand Central, I watched the busy commuters rush on by while I admired the chandeliers and the attention to detail on the ceiling. Its a truly beautiful station. I then walked down to New York Public Library (anyone interested in taking a trip to New York, it is free the enter the library as a visitor and it’s definitely worth the visit). After grabbing a bite to eat, I headed down to the financial district towards the World Trade Centre, taking in the views of the Empire State and the Crysler buildings on the way. I admired how tall the World Trade center is and the reflection of the clouds on the windows. I then headed over to the memorial for September 11th to pay my respect.
After exploring the financial district, I headed towards the Hudson River. I’ve been to New York a handful of times, however, it’s been a few years since I hopped on board the Staten Island Ferries. I was surprised with how much I enjoyed the experience. I remember having a brilliant view of the Statue of Liberty, I did not, however, remember having such a great view of the city’s skyline. The Ferry also offers a decent view of Brooklyn Bridge.
When I got off one ferry and jumped straight on board another one too exchange place in Jersey City, too catch the sunset reflect on to the New York City Skyline.
